What is acupressure? Do you offer acupressure treatments?

for animals too. Can you acupuncture
my pet?

On your first visit we will have a brief discussion about your health history and condition(s) for which you seek treatment. After the initial interview, the needles will be inserted and retained for a period of 20-40 minutes depending on your condition. During this time most people feel a deep sensation of relaxation and sometimes fall asleep. After the needles are removed the acupuncturist will discuss your treatment plan and recommendations.

To enhance the benefits of your acupuncture treatment, we recommend the following tips:

  • DO NOT over-exercise or consume alcohol within six hours before or after your treatment.
  • DO NOT eat an unusually large meal immediately prior to or following your treatment
  • DO eat a meal or snack within 3 hours of your acupuncture treatment (avoid receiving acupuncture on an empty stomach)
  • DO get some rest after your treatment, especially for the first few visits. If you have to return to work after your treatment, we recommend minimizing your level of intensity whenever possible.
  • DO continue to take your prescription medication as directed by your physician. If you are taking medication for conditions you are seeking to treat with acupuncture, be sure to discuss this with your doctor. It is possible that you may need to alter your medications as a result of acupuncture, and your doctor will best advise you.
  • DO keep good written or mental notes on your symptoms following the acupuncture treatment. It is especially important to observe your condition within the first 24-48 hours following acupuncture treatment. We will inquire about the condition (i.e. duration and frequency) of your symptoms at the start of each acupuncture session.

Use of drugs and alcohol (Substance Abuse) can seriously interfere with the effectiveness of acupuncture treatments.
