We use very small guage, fine quality needles for our client's optimum comfort.
Most clients report that when the needles are inserted it can feel very similar to a mosquito bite, and many times the insertions may not be felt at all. Rarely do they describe it as 'painful'. Unlike needles used for injections, acupuncture needles are extremely thin—about 20 times thinner than a typical hypodermic needle used for injections. The acupuncture needles are solid and do not remove or inject fluid as would occur with a hypodermic needle, and this renders acupuncture needles safer and less painful.
Once the needles are inserted, you may feel a sensation of movement, a dull ache, warmth, or a slight itchiness around the site of the needle. Often these sensations will fade within 30 seconds. During the remainder of the session, it not uncommon to feel a gentle movement or sensations of energy now and then, here and there throughout the body. These are usually pleasant or neutral sensations.
During the treatment sessions, many clients have reported a strong feeling of relaxation, and this may continue for hours or days following the treatment, depending upon the client. This relaxation is a sign of rebalancing of energy and flow within the mind and body.
